After hearing of the plight of Chichester Hackney drivers the GMB union made an offer of help to the Alliance, an association of Licensed hackney drivers in the area.

Following visits to problem locations by the GMB, and a review of the issues that concern local drivers, an inaugural meeting took place between the Alliance and the GMB this Friday (12th)

Terry Flanagan, GMB Branch Secretary of the GMB Professional Driver Branch, also spoke at the meeting.

Chairman of the Alliance, Tony Mentasti said, "We are very grateful for the approach by the GMB and the support they can offer. This meeting did much to raise the spirits of our members".

Mr Mentasti added:"I would like to personally thank Terry especially, for his very valued inspiration and guidance, which has already done much to clarify our aims and purpose."

I think the issues at the club can be sorted if the council enforce their own rules.

Let's hope the trade can make them do that.
