Teen Dies After 'taxi incident'

26th September 2008

A teenager has died from serious head injuries almost a week after an incident involving a taxi in Berkshire.

The 19-year-old had been a passenger in a Hackney carriage when he was hurt early last Saturday.

Police said the exact circumstances around how the injuries were sustained in Chatteris Way, Lower Earley, were still unclear.

The teenager died at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford on Thursday. Police appealed to anyone with information.

PC Andy Woodley, of Thames Valley Police, said: "If anyone believes they may have seen the Hackney carriage I would urge them to contact me.

"The vehicle was being driven by a 37-year-old local man."
