That's what happens when councils are allowed to spend parking ticket money themselves.

Effing odd that....The whole Idea of Traffic wardens is to ensure that no one Parks Illegally, Surely they should only get sacked if they Issue to many Tickets and get a Big Pat on the Back when they can proudly say that had they have had to Issue none. Zero illegal Parking means theyre getting their Message across.

Bunch of Bankers with a Capital "W" the lot of them...

I agree.
Local council should pass laws on parking and enforce them but money raised should go to the treasury.
That way local residents and businesses have, through their elected council, parking laws they want and the enforcement is not profit making, therefore focused.

The present system where council make parking laws, enforce them and pocket the proceeds leads to the system being abused.

Imagine if the police could keep the fines their prosecutions raise...

A lot of the councils do not realise the damage that they are doing to their own locality - here being no exception.

Nearly every time someone is fined then that is money being taken out of the local economy, I say nearly because if they are from out of town i.e timbuktu then it is their locality that is affected. The bottom line being is that the "fines" money cannot be spent keeping local amenities/shops in business because it has been sent off to Westminster. So when you see a boarded up shop and areas falling into dilapidation - would the total fines sent off to Westminster from your area have helped to keep some of those shops in business.

Theyed be far better spending the Fine money on creating extra parking spaces and removing Parking restrictions where often parking restrictions serve no other purpose than to catch out the unwary, and even where there is parking they should remove around 75% of the Disabled Bays that sit Empty 95% of the time because the true Disabled/Abled ratio is wrong, Maybe the Disabled Ratios wrong because anyone with A minor Limp, a Slightly arthritic finger or a minor anxiety problem gets to swing the Lead by getting themselves on Incapacity benefits or Disabilty allowance when they dont even need it whilst at the same Time getting a free New car every Two years whilst the True and needy disabled get Over looked obtain half as much because of the Lead Swingers.

Maybe Traffic wardens should be on the Sex offenders register as theyre Just a bunch Dicks Hanging about at the Roadside.
