GENERAL STRIKE ANYONE :?: :?: :?:

What good would that do ?

How about getting consumers to march en masse to a rally in parlaiment square to embarrass the governmet into doing something

or buy shares in these companies and turn up at the AGM to force a vote on cutting executive pay and bonuses

Or even set up a cooperative fuel movement and create a mutual energy company that would buy in the energy and sell it on to the consumer on a costs only basis

How about getting consumers..........
To all switch to one company - take your choice! How do you think the rest would react if no one was buying their product?

I have always viewed it that the consumer could - if organised, dictate how much a box of "Cornflakes" would/could cost if the public acted en masse in purchasing. We have the power, but no one to organise, and not enough togetherness.........hmmm, sound like they are all taxi drivers

Berliners vote on Sunday in a referendum to take over the German capital’s electricity supply and establish a new, democratically-controlled power utility, aiming to generate energy from renewable sources while keeping prices affordable.
The referendum is the latest in a wave of initiatives to nationalise energy production in Germany, after citizens in the country’s second-biggest city, Hamburg, voted in September to return their grid to civic ownership. Grids in both cities are operated by Vattenfall, one of Europe’s largest electricity generators.
However, there is intensifying debate over whether the transfer of the grid to the city government would result in lower bills. There is mounting concern in Germany that green subsidies are making life harder for the working poor. Surcharges to cover the cost of renewable energy subsidies, which are added to household electricity bills, are due to increase by 18 per cent next year.
Campaign posters across Berlin show a bear, the city’s mascot, with a clenched fist beside the slogan: “Vattenfall den Stecker zieh’n” – pull the plug on Vattenfall. The Berlin network generates an average annual profit of €50m to €55m for the Swedish state-owned energy group.
