Strikes provoked by a stupid old school tie management cnuts :p

A very valid point and not one that has been aired often.

I remember our Convenor coming out of a meeting claiming that the Management were trying to provoke us into a strike, they were in an over stocked position re car parts and wanted to avoid lay off pay. It was not always a Black & White situation.

Another time under the "British Leyland" label, we turned in, back in the 70s, a very respectable 50 million profit! We put forward for a rise but were knocked back because they said it was earmarked for expansion! the following year we lost 50 million - sorry lads we have not got the money to give, (Heads they win/Tails we lose).

The problem has always been - one side has always got to dominate the other, instead of working together for the common good

So Trots, whats your viewpoint on the Indian owners of Land Rover paying peanuts to workers back in India, will UK "brothers" strike in support of them?

Who decides company policy, the owners or the staff?

staff can always leave, the owners cant

So would you strike if you were on the Solihull LR line on £12 an hour (lets say you were out of work for 6 months before getting the job) for the rights of employees in India on £30 a month?

will you strike for the rights of workers in a Primark or ASDA supplier in Bangladesh?...

has it happened yet?.... course not, cos socialist ideals are a done deal, dead as a dodo in reality, anyone who lived through the 70's has more sense to risk their jobs or even lose wages
