So the Supreme Court is lower? Because that is where the appeal will be heard.

this is ludicrous why do we need to pass an act of parliament to repeal an act of parliament ?

The simple answer to that is Yes. The Government have to pass a repeal act to repeal the act that took us into the EU. That has always been the case but that is not what the court decision today is about.

The way i understood it before this judgement parliament had to write a letter triggering article 50 then it was a case of a vote to repeal the act but now it is an act of parliament required to authorise sending the letter or have i misunderstood that

so just as Wallia has held up the Canada-EU trade deal

To me that is a gift!

In essence/practice it would seem that any/every country could gum up the workings of the EU at anytime - thus making it unworkable. By taking such an action on a regular/permanent basis, then they would be only too glad to get rid of the offending state......On favourable terms! =D>

Risky going against any kind of majority, dangerous going against the democratic process, political suicide if your a sitting MP who votes against democracy.

I hope they respect the wishes of the majority, I suspect the MPs will (Not the SNP they won't) but use their vote as a bargaining tool to get a lesser brexit deal, interesting times ahead.

Then some of you will end up very dead or in prison - the system is rigged, get used to it.

Could the case end up being decided at the European Court of Justice?
Possibly, but it would be surprising if it was, according to Joshua Rozenberg, because the case is about the UK's constitutional requirements, not EU law.

I can quite see it being the next government having to deal with this

Might make an interesting general election as each party will have to put it into their manifesto and make a pledge as to whether they will or will not send THE LETTER
