They say that one of the first executive orders that Trump will sign will be to deport millions of immigrants from the USA.
isn't that similar to what Idi Amin did in the 70s?

Don't know the details, Grandad, but it looks like Trump's plan is for illegals/undocumented immigrants, or whatever the precise terminology is (Sir Keir would call them 'irregular' migrants).

I think Amin's expulsions related to established immigrants and the like, although some might not have been granted full citizenship. (A bit like if there had been mass deportations of the Windrush migrants in the UK, say.)

So although the terminology and the precise rules etc are difficult to compare, I doubt an Amin/Trump comparison is wholly valid.

And Trump's just a blowhard and blabbermouth, who shouldn't really be taken at his word.

Don't want to sound too defensive as regards Trump, but as regards what he'll actually do while in office, his bark seems a lot worse than his actual bite :?

I wonder where he will deport them to?

Trump's definitely a blowhard - lots of image, not much substance.

Winning the election was the prize, because it solves most of his legal and financial problems. He enjoys the campaigning/competing bit - actually running the country afterwards is a different thing.

I'd expect a lot of blustering and showboating until (say) spring of 2025. After that, he might just drift towards a celebrity retirement, with the occasional tantrum about something. He's already 78 and there's no 2028 election to fight.

Think he might be spending some of his time looking at Iran.

Alongside the Israelis. :-s

Latest popular vote share:

Trump - 49.9%
Harris - 48.2%
Others - 1.9%

Around 99% of votes counted, so the above won't change much :-o

Therefore very close in terms of the popular vote, but in terms of the electoral college vote the result flatters Trump - 312 to Harris's 226.

Not sure how long it all takes, but hopefully all the votes will be counted before the next presidential race in 2028 :D
