In the UK the number of people who have asylum status, or are seeking it is around 0.27% of the total UK population. The number of new asylum requests in the UK in 2012 was around half that of Sweden and France and a little bit less than a third of Germany. Total new asylum requests in the UK in 2012 was 23,499.

The biggest population of refugees is actually in Pakistan, mainly from the continued Afganistan conflicts. The only western nation that makes any list of refugee population is Germany, the others are countries neighboring large regional conflicts.

The conservative policy is less to do with facts and more to do with not wanting to give UKIP ammunition going into 2015.

Reckless rich bankers caused this. Labour, Tories and Liberals allowed it by being the bought off lackeys of the rich. All cheeks of the same corrupt arse.

Never Mind...we are going to be the Biggest hitters in Europe by 2030 and we may not even have to be in the EU to achieve it.

The only potential wrecker to this bright UK future is wee Eck and the Gullibles.

Even then though we Win...We Jocks will be outside of the EU by default in any case..sweet.

You are forgetting the main thing that some of them spend the money on. DRUGS! That is the case for one of my sons and his girlfriend. They are both heroin addicts and would rather spend their benefits on heroin than buy food for themselves and their kid. They will steal anything from shops, family and friends to feed their habit and the 19 year old girl is even getting money out of my 87 year old dad but I won't say how but it is not nice. My son has even bullied my ex wife's dad who has alzheimers into withdrawing cash from his bank account to fund their habit.

I think it's fair to say that the vast majority of benefit claimants are not drug addicts. Nor for that matter do they spend all their money on Sky TV, bookies, fags and beer.
