I wouldn't trust anything that starts with EU.

The article states that the EU imposed a tariff of around 25% on Chinese steel a year ago.
The tariff that the Chinese have just brought in on our steel is 46% on a specific type of steel that we very rarely supply anyway.

I was listening to an expert on steel industry the other day on R5 live and he was saying that chinese steel can't compete in uk markets because it takes too long to ship it to Uk and the transport is expensive BUT they are not at such a disadvantage in export markets and that is the problem we don't make much in the Uk so need relatively little steel but a large plant like Port Talbot has to export a high proportion of its steel and its in the export markets they are suffering
