No, nor will it suddenly restore us to being a net exporter. 34 years of Tory and pseudo-Tory misrule have seen that possibility off.
We will still import most things and we will pay more for them.

And, of course, as I have to add to, it is not fair to compare England with Germany now anyway, for the latter has not lived of the Anglo-American asset bubble as much and it´s cab-drivers have not gotten as rich as UK ones before 2008. So, just one more time, my friends, hang in there with the yanks, in for a pound once, in for a penny now, haha.

France and the USA have lost their top notch rating, so what.The present bunch have given us neither austerity or growth.
All they seem to do is fudge.This budget will show what they are made of, if anything.
Be nice to see them do something positive like cutting Corporation tax and doing away with Capital Gains tax. They could also privatise the BBC for me.

Germany spent their way out of the recession didn't they? Look where they are now, growth, growth, growth.

You cant put a lid on spending by just simply spending less on everything, when your economy is designed around growth. It's like trying to drive your car further everyday but cutting back on the amount you spend on petrol.
