I read a few weeks back that Orkney & Shetland councils have said that they wouldn't accept rule from Edinburgh and that a `yes' vote would be followed by them immediately seceding from Scotland and taking the rights to a massive slice of the north sea's oil & gas with them. I took the report with a pinch of salt but having seen recently the hostility to Scotland and the Orkneys flying their own flag this could be interesting if Scotland vote to leave the UK & the Northern Isles want to stay part of the UK or be independent themselves.
