Although, I did not agree with the breaking up of the Union, I find myself disappointed the "Yes" campaign failed to deliver on its pledge of Independence. The simple truth is, if the people want social justice and an egalitarian society, they don't need Alec Salmond, Kenny MacAskill or Nicola Sturgeon. It's theirs for the taking, if they have the will. They need only to take to the streets to demand the society they so richly deserve?

80-90% of the "yes" and "no" vote should do the trick? #-o

Are you entering this into the contradiction of the day contest?

Bollocks!! The people of the UK don't need to vote for separation or union to get what they want. Imagine, 80-90% of the voting public (like in the referendum) taking to the streets and demanding social justice, transparency of government and direct accountability? You would have your egalitarian society.

Where's the separation? You don't think people north and south of the border are all in the same boat, governed by a political class working on behalf of a wealthy elite?

Ive heard a lot of sh*t today about how the Scottish vote will change England - of course they haven't actually asked the English electorate if they want change towards a federal system.

Do the English really want another tier of government below national government and above county council level?

ffs all you folk all read tdo and see how LA's have very little idea how to run something as simple as taxi licensing - are we to trust another level of wannabe MP's with more money?

I remind you of Rotherham - where local government f*ckwits allowed 1400 girls to be groomed and sexually abused - these people cannot be trusted and aren't trusted, hence the reasons why a recent election for a crime commissioner had less than 10% of the electorate turn out.

A wee place like mine in Carlisle would be dwarfed by the needs of Greater Manchester or Merseyside, or Wearside and Tyneside.......we'd have very little say and very little cash.

When I hear and read of tory and UKIP idiots down south saying they want greater powers for the English, this translates roughly as greater powers for them.

I sincerely hope the three parties give Scotland greater powers - and hope Scots hold them to their promises - I think they will, I also think the English MP's will play into Salmonds hands - and Scotland will have independence within 5 years.

You've lost me completely!!

Don't you think, people North and South of the border all want the same thing, of course they do, transparency of government with direct accountability to the electorate?

You can shout about living in a democracy until you are blue in the face but this counts for nothing, if you have no accountability and your politicians are working for a wealthy elite.

Social justice is merely a consequence of having the correct checks and balances in place to make those you elect accountable to you. If they fu*k up, they are out of a job, they lose their pensions or at worst, they are put in prison.

In respect of social justice and your referendum I mean there were the likes of Souter - a sharp multi millionaire operator - who has destroyed many bus rivals north and south of the border - in league with socialists.

The same guy who tried to block gay legislation going through Scottish law - working with the LGBT alliance.

I just wonder how social justice would have worked.

You have greens working towards Scotland being the Saudi Arabia of Europe.

I'm sorry, but it was a very f*cked up situation - it was a sort of, lets get independence then sort it all out type of thing and would leave many scots scratching their heads.

I think the yes vote was lost when the you gov poll put the yes camp in the lead, the no camp panicked and, feared the yes vote picking up more momentum, they brought out the big guns and promised more powers this probably swayed the balance back to the no camp more power for us without the risk of breaking , i think they know they have to deliver or they will have another referendum on their hands, and without doubt and only a five per cent swing needed they will loose, the best thing for the yes camp would be Westminster to break the promise

CC, Sunset up here in Scotland, the Law Society investigates lawyers( they all went to school together) the police, the police, the council, the Scottish Public Services Ombudsman, Accountants, the Institute of chartered accountants, etc. It's a fuc*ing joke... Oh and just try to use an FOI request to get the information you require? All of these bureaucratic organisations are protecting the system by filtering out any accountability to the public, and they are being paid taxpayers money to polish seats with their are*e not to do the job, they are supposed to do.

The political system is corrupt and a fu*king joke!!!

I don't follow where that has anything to do with the vote

A vote for an independent Scotland was an opportunity for change and now there is no opportunity. I personally believe we would have ended up with a new gang, the same as what you have south of the border but it was an opportunity for change, nonetheless.
