it appears to me the amateurs within the PH industry are ignoring a great opportunity given the upcoming Mayoral election and lets remember the Mayor controls TFL!

The Labour candidate is desperate for support and assistance in his oncoming campaign surely the GMBPDB and the newly formed UPHD ought be beating a path to his door promising support and assistance given he supports their policy's regarding UBER

Naturally the GMB London Region and Southern regions will be piling in money already so GMBPHD and UPHD what yer waiting for ??

just look at the present situation under the vermin clown Boris and get in there NOW


For the Tory vermin gink will side with UBER and be getting support from them already and as for the Lap Dog thats got no chance.

TT you know as well as I do that promises are just that and nothing more all politicians change their minds once in power ( having been wined and dined by uber a couple of times) so you can understand apathy

That is of course just the attitude that got this industry where it is where drivers work more hours for less money than any other industry and in very dangerous circumstances!

Now when candidates are looking for support and assistance is when you can extract commitments in the media which can be used later if necessary

TFL in London is very powerful and under complete control of the Mayor obviously the Tory vermin will be anti worker pro UBER so its the Labour man Sadiq Khan who needs to be lined up and your pushing at an open door with him! Given his requiring and getting backing from all the Unions nows the time to collar him on the details of what YOU the drivers want, he will need briefing and theres no doubt Unite will have him collared on the Knowledge issue!

Boris was a fuc7ing disaster for PH but Ken was always receptive to Drivers needs and many deals had been agreed behind the scenes and would have been introduced but for that Tory kkunt Boris

Lets hope the GMB and Unite are on the case

Noticed a wee flaw in Uber's justifying surge pricing, in Edinburgh they have 25-30 cars, Hogmanay there cars like every ph & taxi where busy, there fares surged, they justify this surge to encourage more cars to come out but they don't have any more cars to come out, how are they getting away with surging, not enough cars or free cars is not a reason to surge, pass that on to TFL, it's a pure rip off and uber know it.

I think that the whole reason behind surging is a distinct lack of car/cabs. The reason that people are then ringing UBER is that they believe that they are the dogs B*lll*cks in getting a car/cab i.e NOW. Once they get through and realise that they can get a car/cab, (unfortunately at a price), they are then prepared to accept (whatever price) in order to get home. However if you/I quoted the same/similar price.........then they take the stance that we are trying to rip them off .....it will take time to sink in

The one thing that the trade has going for them is......if you/I turn up at an address and they cancel, then there is very little chance of redress! However UBER will charge them a cancellation fee.......That will not be popular

I firmly believe that UBER will not be as popular as people make out. Do they want change, then the answer is YES, as it is.....UBER do not quite cut it.

Common sense........is just not that Common.

Their cancellation fee is fair in my opinion, as I understand there are certain criteria to met before it's charged, and the driver receives it.

1. You can cancel up to 5 min after booking at no charge.
2. You are given an ETA when booking. If the driver hasn't arrived by the ETA, you can cancel with no charge (so it's tough on the driver, if you're stuck in traffic).
3. The driver will wait up to 5 min (in London it used to be 10) at your pick up point - if you don't appear within 5 min (or make contact, and the driver agrees to wait longer if needed), then the fee is charged. If the driver is impatient, and disappears within 5 min, then no fee is charged.

I didn't think the authorities allowed waiting in London. There are umpteen cases on here where drivers have received a fine for waiting far less than 5 minutes.

Uber should be forced like the rest of us to work with the number of cars they have out working, they should not be allowed to mis lead by insinuation that they have more cars than they actually have, surging dupes riders in to thinking uber has a limitless amount of cars that they can call upon when surge is surging, it's totally misleading and should be banned.
