I think you are wrong. I think it was the last throw of the dice for those who want to remove him as the leader. It failed and now they will suffer the humiliation of being trounced in the election. It will be a walkover.
Bet 365 have Corbyn at 10/1 on and I think that is very generous.

yep grandad is right it was about the ballot from Mp's not from party members

of course the tory party only had nominations from their elected mps too (but that's not being mentioned much , presumably because the press are like that)

The Tory party situation was somewhat different though. The incumbent leader resigned and had no intention of seeking re-election. 5 candidates put themselves forward and as per the party rules this was whittled down to 2 candidates. Then the odd thing happened and one of these candidates withdrew leaving the way clear for the only remaining candidate to get the nod. I have to say that I was a little dissapointed at not having the chance to use my vote but clearly deals were done to get it over before the summer recess.

If what you are saying is correct that deals were done to only leave one candidate for leader and ultimately be an unelected PM. then that was not democracy working.

We do not have (true) democracy! You/I are (told) that we have it - it is not the same.

I heard that Jeremy Corbyn says that if he had been PM ( ) he would've signed the multi billion pound contract for Hinckley Point nuclear power station, but wouldn't switch it on when it was finished!
