After the small splurge about the MP resigning on a matter of principle this has seen almost no coverage despite the fact it is a battle ground over government policy. I wonder if the media have been told to keep it low profile ? |

The media, and everyone else knows that the conservative candidate could be a corpse or a monkey or Donald Trump, even, and they would get elected. No point in covering it. |

It's the same round here, put forward a donkey with a labour rosette attached to it and it will win. |

Sleaford and North Hykeham by-election: UKIP chooses candidate UKIP has selected local councillor Victoria Ayling for the Sleaford and North Hykeham parliamentary by-election on 8 December. The by-election comes after Conservative MP Stephen Phillips resigned earlier this month, citing "irreconcilable policy differences" with the government. In last year's election, Mr Phillips had a majority of 24,115. Mrs Ayling has a seat on Lincolnshire County Council. Lincolnshire voters were among the most Eurosceptic in the UK in the referendum on EU membership. UKIP chairman Paul Oaken said: "Victoria is already working hard to represent local people and will now use all of her experience to make sure that UKIP continues to speak up for the common sense voters in Sleaford and North Hykeham." Consultant paediatrician Dr Caroline Johnson, who contested the Scunthorpe seat in 2010, was selected by the Conservatives. |

I think UKIP need to take basic English tests Former UKIP leader Nigel Farage offered his support in the Sleaford and North Hykeham by-election in front of a misspelt party poster. Speaking to Sky News in Sleaford on Monday, Mr Farage could be seen standing in front of a UKIP poster with a letter 'n' in the word Hykeham. Mr Farage was visiting the constituency in support of UKIP candidate Victoria Ayling. The by-election takes place on Thursday. Mr Farage seemed unaware of the error as he spoke about Brexit. BBC political correspondent Chris Mason was one of those to highlight the error on social media.

There is certain areas where Labour will never be elected and certain areas where Tories will never be elected, this happened to be one of those for Labour. |
