Former Ukip leader Diane James has quit the party, citing an “increasingly difficult” relationships.

James succeed Nigel Farage as Ukip leader in September. However she quit the post after serving just 18 days and Farage returned as interim-leader.

Farage immediately launched an attack on his former Ukip colleague. “This is yet another act of irrational selfishness from Diane James. This pattern of behaviour says that is she unfit to continue as an MEP. She should do the honourable thing and resign,” she said.

Current Ukip leadership candidate Suzanne Evans said James should step down as an MEP.

In a statement today, James said: “The President of the Parliament, Martin Schulz, has accepted my request and will announce this in his opening speech to the Parliamentary Session in Strasbourg on Monday 21 November.

“At a high profile public event in Cambridge last week, I was asked why I had not completed the process to become Leader of Ukip? I had little option, but to give the truthful response that, although nominated Leader by popular vote in the membership, I found that I had no support within the executive and thus no ability to carry forward the policies on which I had campaigned.

“My decision to retire from the election process and not complete it was very difficult personally and professionally, given that UKIP has dominated my life and all my efforts for over 5 years. In recent weeks, my relationship with the Party has been increasingly difficult and I feel it is now time to move on. I wish the Party well for the future under new leadership.”

So that's Farage ,Woolf and now James leaving UKIP starting to disintegrate I think

Then I guess that it was the mugs that won the day (maybe). Don't underestimate mugs who are brighter than your double headed leader, at least we stand by our principles.

couldn't have chosen a better mr Nobody to oversee the parties last rights

Paul Nuttall has been elected leader of the UK Independence Party, replacing Nigel Farage.
The 39-year-old Member of the European Parliament, who served as UKIP's deputy leader for six years, won 62.6% of support among party members.
He promised to "put the great back into Britain" and force the government to "give us a real Brexit".
Mr Nuttall defeated former deputy chairwoman Suzanne Evans and ex-soldier John Rees-Evans.
It was UKIP's second leadership election this year, previous winner Diane James having quit after 18 days in the role. Mr Farage acted as interim leader while the second leadership race took place.

tamford’s only UKIP county councillor has defected to the Conservative Party after stating “the politicial tectonic plates have shifted”.

Coun Robert Foulkes was elected to the Stamford North ward in a December 2014 by-election – winning with a majority of 132 votes.

Announcing his decision to resign from UKIP, Coun Foulkes said he was “immensely proud” of what the party had achieved, but he added “the Conservative party is the best way forward both for the UK and for Stamford”. His decision has been welcomed by Lincolnshire County Council leader Martin Hill and Grantham and Stamford MP Nick Boles. Councillor Foulkes said: “After a great deal of thought I have decided to resign from UKIP and join the Conservatives. “I’m immensely proud of what UKIP have achieved but following the historic vote to leave the EU the political tectonic plates have shifted and the world is now in a new era.
