There was a prospective Labour MP on the news this evening saying that he is just hoping to save as many Labour MPs as possible. |

If you think it will never be used, lets compare what has happened in the NHS,Tories claim they are pumping more money into the NHS yet today it was announced that waiting times in A&E have increased dramatically and are the worst in over 5 yrs.The NHS record alone tells voters that the only way to safeguard the health service is vote the Tories out. It is similar with education,Tories are panic stricken that the population becomes well educated and healthy as that is when the mass population is most dangerous to their ideology. |

In my view the Railways need renationalised. Water needs renationalised. Gas needs renationalised. Electricity needs renationalised. And there should be a bank that is government controlled. Why should private companies profit from basic human needs? Look at the way the government cuts have screwed up education and health - basic needs - they are working to a mantra and people are being fooled into thinking that private capital (basically government funded but lets not go there) will save these services, they're under investing making people think private companies can do better, which is bollox. |

Yes, Jeremy is going to shake his money tree and make it all happen. I mean, labour did such a good job privatising railtrack didn't they ??? |

And the east coast mainline ran better under state management than it did under private profit, in fact the rail system was built up by the state after the second world war, primarily because it was bombed to hell by Nazis and private profit didn't want to rebuild it - so our taxes paid for the infrastructure and eventually (with more money than the nationalised railway ever got) subsidise the entire thing. I mean, who's paying for this new quick line from the south to the north? Private companies? naaa that's the tax payer. If you believe people should profit through the human needs of others, power, water, travel, communication, then so be it, personally I find it distasteful because I don't believe there should be private profit in basic human needs.......including prisons, heathcare, security and so on. Should we privatise the british army and sell them as soldiers of fortune? And please don't tell me that private companies and competition improve peoples lives, because invariably these private companies go cap in hand to the state for funding / relaxing regulations. |

The big problem now is the fact that major pension schemes are some of the biggest investors in the rail companies (and the energy companies and so on) so how do you buy them back ? If you allow the franchises to run out it would cause a collapse of some of these companies share prices and thus pension schemes as well. Labour policy's just don't make sense. It's like the idea of free parking at hospitals, yes, in an ideal world it should happen but the reality of it is that the NHS trusts need this money as part of their budget. Our local hospital does have a scheme were A and E patients (or their relatives) don't pay nor do relatives of sick children. And the ward sisters also have discretion in other cases. Again, how is labour going to make up the shortfall ? The answer is by taxing private health insurance policy's. ( you know the people going private and reducing the stress on the NHS) |

( you know the people going private and reducing the stress on the NHS) People going private does not always reduce the stress on the NHS as it normally is NHS consultants doing this private work, reducing the time they are available for NHS work. |
