To get back to reality...

The BS8414 standard, which would have prevented this tragedy was overridden by the EN13501 EU regulation, making it mandatory. The relevant minister who went to Brussels to call for a much more effective standard along British lines was John Prescott. But his officials were more concerned with insulation rather than fire safety, so that compliance with the Kyoto protocol on global warming, signed by prescott, in 1997, could be realised.
When John McDonnell described the victims of the Grenfell fire as being murdered by political decisions he clearly had no idea of the role his own party had played in this murky saga.

You couldn't make it up.

Could you, TT.

And Prescot's son works for Corbyn.

So, calls to string up those responsible instead of getting to the bottom of the cause of this awful situation is the nub, will serve no useful purpose. Find out what went wrong, to ensure it does not happen again, is the obvious way forward. The lynch mob mentality that surrounds this, and so many other tragedies that befall us will not bring back the dead. So many want justice, and I can understand why. I was told many years ago by a barrister not to confuse justice with the law. Good advice.

It was on the news this morning that the tests that are being carried out now are wrong. They are not testing the cladding in the form in which it being used i.e. they are not building a small tower and trying to set fire to the cladding attached to the tower. They are taking an A4 sheet of the cladding and making it into a powder and seeing if the powder will burn, which it obviously will do, which is why every panel is failing.
