It is a sad state of affairs when allegations are made - and they won't tell you what they are! This terrible situation cannot be comfortable for the accusers, or future accusers, who will not want to be associated/be known as a person who caused another to take their life.

And to think the same politicians who cry for this poor man now are the same ones that wanted immediate suspension of drivers based on an accusation

Yesterday the fella was a dirty old perv who has at last got his comeuppance.

Today he was a well loved politician respected by all sides.

That happened to me some years back over allegedly "Cherry Picking"! They would not tell me "What the charge was" Or "Who made the allegation" - it's a nasty feeling (not knowing ) hanging over you.

The trouble is (and now we will never truly know) whether he was or not.

Re sentence (2), I would guess that the "Respect" is tinged with a touch of guilt.
