A town's mayor who made "deeply offensive remarks" about Boris Johnson has lost her job at a solicitors firm.

Sheila Oakes, who is the mayor of Heanor in Derbyshire, made the comments on Facebook after the prime minister was admitted to intensive care.

The councillor - since suspended by Labour - said he "completely deserves this". She has since apologised.

Her employer, VHS Fletchers Solicitors, said she was "no longer employed by this firm in any capacity".

Ms Oakes worked as a paralegal at the firm's Ilkeston office.

As a result of her comments, the company said it had become "embroiled in criticism".

The local Labour Party has withdrawn the whip, and said there would be an investigation into Ms Oakes's conduct.

time to find out if Starmer has more balls than Corbyn :wink:

Typical of so many on social media who try to be clever and with it, so to speak.

The lady and her comments are utterly disgraceful and her fall from grace is entirely appropriate.

She is a typical example of what has made Labour less appealing to it's core voter, an ignorant mouthy arrogant fool with not an ounce of respect for the well being of her fellow human beings.

Labour was right to boot her out as were her employers.

The dangers of making remarks on social media is that they are often written in solitude and after a few glasses of the writers favourite tipple and it loosens their sense of discretion, restraint and decency and daft guff like hers gets released on to social media...or in her case unsocial media.

As I said in a previous post on this thread, so typical of many on social media trying to be 'up with the kids'.
