So the fella just scraped in, and Sturgeon MK2 will sort it all out.

If only the lady who came third didn't stand then gospel Kate would have won.

I'd have preferred Kate Forbes to win, but either way it's lose-lose for the SNP.

Forbes would have split the SNP apart.

Although the result will mean a few more defections to Alex Salmond's Alba Party, and more just letting their membership lapse, on balance Humza will be more able to hold the SNP together.

But in terms of popularity with voters generally, Kate Forbes would have been more popular, so to that extent Humza is bad news for the party, and will just continue the process of losing votes to the opposition.

Worth recalling, also, that on first round votes, and taking into account the 70 per cent turnout, Humza was only endorsed by one in three SNP members :-o

Not good news for the Glasgow taxi trade either. Still maybe a chance of an LEZ delay, but would have been more of a chance if Kate Forbes had won, since she would have ripped up the agreement with the Greens, who are the driving force behind several unpopular policies making the headlines up here at the moment.

Not that the taxi stuff was directly the responsibility of Holyrood, nor that the issue was making the headlines in the way other stuff was, but Forbes might have made a difference, since she's more of a realist rather than the eco-vandalism and scorched earth policies pursued by the Scottish Greens :?

If the fella can only convince one in three of the fully paid up membership, one wonders how he is going to carry the country to Independance.

Maybe it would have been more honest if he had said 'yes I love the thought of Independance, and that will be my ultimate aim, but let's put all our efforts into sorting out the problems that really matter, and when they're done we can concentrate on Independance'.

But I suppose if he had said that he wouldn't be the leader now.

Yousafs policies are the exact same as Sturgeons were, he brings nothing new to the table...it failed for her and brought her down and it'll be the same for him, indeed it will be worse for him as he is less liked by the average Scot than even Sturgeon was.

The SNP grandees knew how to swing things their way, they deliberately ran a three horse race just to split the vote in the new leaders favour, had they had any decency they would have voted the Three candidates down to the last two and only then voted for one of them.

Muslim prayers at Bute House (Scotland's equivalent to No 10 Downing Street). Humza trolling 'gospel Kate' and much of Scotland :-o

But anyone who saw the video recently where Humza asked a group of Ukranian women "where are all the men?" (um, fighting a war) won't have the same problem here.

Now the question should be, "where are all the women"? :-o

Hmmm...

I wonder if this had anything to do with her resignation ?

Sturgeon's husband arrested in SNP finance probe

The husband of former first minister Nicola Sturgeon has been arrested in connection with an investigation into Scottish National Party finances.

Peter Murrell, 58, was taken into police custody on Wednesday morning.

Police Scotland said officers were carrying out searches at "a number of addresses as part of the investigation".

Mr Murrell resigned as the party's chief executive last month, a post he had held since 1999.

He has been married to Ms Sturgeon since 2010.

Ms Sturgeon stood down as first minister last month and was last week succeeded by Humza Yousaf.

There is currently police activity at the couple's home in Glasgow and at SNP headquarters in Edinburgh.

Would certainly explain her sudden departure, only days after saying she had 'plenty fuel left in the tank' :-o

But at least we now know what the SNP meant by being a 'big tent' party

Don't know if that's normally what happens in cases like this, but you'd think they were looking for a body or a drugs stash, or something like that :-s

Very strange, unless he has buried any iffy info in the ground.

It's all a bit bizarre - they were back searching this morning, and according to Sky News there were up to 20 police officers there :-o

Huge search at SNP headquarters as well yesterday, and also apparently at other undisclosed addresses 8-[

But although she seems to be in hiding, apparently Nicola was whisked away before police arrived yesterday morning, so they can't be searching for her body under the patio
