It's often the attempted cover-up, rather than the original balls up, that causes the downfall.

The fella needs to go, in the same way he and his SNP chums call for everyone else to resign for far less.

Absolutely -

"I can say categorically that his investigation indicates that no one on the White House staff, no one in this administration, presently employed, was involved in this very bizarre incident. What really hurts in matters of this sort is not the fact that they occur, because overzealous people in campaigns do things that are wrong. What really hurts is if you try to cover it up.” - Richard Nixon (1973)

Incidentally, it was Michael Matheson as justice secretary who oversaw the legislation allowing councils to cap PHV numbers in Scotland :-o

This is where we're at - a couple of the SNP's new poster girls, here in New York with former MP now MSP Angus Robertson:

One was endlessly ridiculed a wee while ago when she tweeted about getting on board the 'gravy bus' :P

The other one has a bit of a reputation, including for the likes of this similar misuse of words about freezing the council tax

They look very similar, but the one in the video is the one *without* the glasses in the first photo.

(Apparently she was on a recent Channel 4 reality programme 'Make Me Prime Minister' (no, me neither), which isn't a happy thought :-o )

Don't know if this has made much waves south of the border yet, but it's maybe good news for Michael Mathieson and his iPad charges, at least because it's replaced him on the front pages. Anyway, it's the next round of the Salmond v Sturgeon saga, essentially. And it's an interesting and rare legal action based on 'misfeasance in public office'.

But, personally speaking, I often think of it all in terms of taxi licensing and the like. Recall that the Scottish Government's investigation into Salmond was deemed by the civil courts to be 'tainted by apparent bias', and he was then charged with sexual assault but subsequently cleared by the criminal courts. Thus rough parallels with what some drivers may face when investigated for misconduct etc.

And this new action steps things up a bit. Think this article is a fair and reasonably concise summary of it all :?
