It may be a bribe, but it's a bribe that no one is refusing.

I suspect the plan for the Tories is to spend as much as they can, and leave Labour with no money to do what they plan to.

apparently there is a massive £25 billion bill for compo from victims of contaminated blood looming and of course if he times it for the same day as the local elections he doesn't have to explain away a dismal performance in those.

May 2nd is a good bet

That would mean calling the election no later than March 28th.

Indeed in about 10 days time the inflation figures are due out on the 20th I believe so that might be descision day

I also saw a video the other day on the subject that said because may 02nd is also local election day there has to be slightly more notice and 25th march is the last day it can be called although like you I thought it was 25 days notice

It is 25 working days regardless. Not everywhere has local elections this May. We don't.

I see Sunak was called in for a PRIVATE meeting with the chair of the 1922 committee.

Last time that happenned Truss resigned the following day so perhaps he's been told to wait till later in the year when all the current chaos has calmed down or that if he doesn't toe the line he'll be replaced

now apparently October 10th is the new bookies favourite.

So time to cook up another election bribe in the Autumn statement maybe for inflation and BOE base rates to fall and PM4PM to be repace Rishi washy

Of course had they been clever they would have not cut anything in this budget but announced tax cut proposals for next years budget which of course would be after the election providing a bigger incentive to vote for them.

I think most tories know the outcome of the next general election isn’t going to be favourable to them.

Thus they want to put in place policies and tax rules that hamper any new Labour government, in the hope of regaining power in 2029.

The tories from 2025 will be a far more right wing offering, and I’m certain they will use immigration in the same way that Trump is using it.

And Trump will win due mainly to immigration.

You change the date more often than I change my under pants. Eventually you will be able to say "I told you when it is."
