so the only thing we are voting for is police and crime commissioner.

at least there are 6 candidates to choose from but what's the betting that not one of them will bother knocking on the door or even putting a leaflet through or setting up a website where their views can actually be read.

anybody else got something more interesting to vote on ?

We have got the P&CC election and the Tory already in place will remain.

Think we have got some local council elections which will be between the Tories and the LibDems.

You've got a green party candidate I see, howewer, I fail to see what environmental politics has to do with policing so not sure why they are throwing away their deposit money

Unlike the deposit for a parlimentary election where the deposit is £500 for the PCC elections the deposit is £5,000 and in Leicestershire each candidate can spend up to £170,000 on their campaign.

for what it's worth I decided to vote despite the fact I've seen little evidence of any campaigning and only had a brief outline of the candidates on a council website as the only info to go on.

I do hate that about the modern electoral system there's no old fashioned door knocking any more you're expected to make your mind up based on their online profile !

Some people do still do the door knocking. generally people answering the door tell you what they think you want to hear.

No one has ever knocked on my door to canvas my political party/views.

Not complaining, but surprising nonetheless.

Which is why one should never trust opinion polls.

well the results are all in and a complete rout of the tories have they ever had this few councillors in the last 100 years ?

Only in the PCC elections did they hang on to their seats

It's quite shocking the way they have gone from landslide election victory to unelectable but you have to say they have done it to themselves.

So now it's a case of waiting for the general election which I think might now be next year because I cannot see there being any good news to improvve the governments chances between now and then

The other thing that was noticeable is that for all the media coverage and hype about Reform Uk picking up votes they only managed to gain 2 councillors whereas the workers party of great britain which has existed only a few months got 4 :-k and of course the lib dems picked up over a hundred

Oh and as for BOJO the clown  voter ID was his idea #-o #-o #-o

Maybe if the Tory Party actually functioned as a Tory Party they may have done better.

What does the Tory Party stand for now? I haven't a clue.

TBH the same could be said about the Labour Party.

Labour will win the next election, but with no money will struggle to win the next.

The Tories will swing much further to the right, and possibly win back in 5 years.

It has to be on or before January 28th 2025.

well that's a second Tory MP defected to labour this year. At the rate we are holding by-elections, plus defections you have to wonder how long they can hold on ! That majority in parliament is getting smaller and it would only take a small number of MP's to vote against Sunak or abstain to bring down the government.

That said Turkeys wouldn't vote for christmas nor would MP's vote for a risky election at which they could lose their seats but you never know
