I noticed that on the lectern at the latest trump rallies that the message "Trump will fix it" is being used.
Does this mean that if America has a problem "Trump will fix it"? or does it mean that if trump loses the election Trump will "fix it"?

This USA election is going to end in tears.

A mate of mine has a contract with a fantastic country venue that is leased to a UK department (I will say no more), and listening to some high-level US officials they are worried about what will happen no matter who wins.

I am surprised it wasn't much closer but panic stations are probably sounding across the world.

I suppose the saying's true - the government you elect is the government you deserve.

I'm not surprised.

Typical of most polling companies, they actually believe what people tell them over the phone or on the street.

When I heard Oprah telling the crowd at one of Kamala's last meetings that if they didn't vote for Kamala they might never ever get another vote, I think they knew the game was up and Trump would romp it.

But I have enjoyed today the YouTube compilations of lefty meltdowns. :D

And good old Elon has had a good day on the US stock exchange.

His shares in Tesla are up $15 billion.

The result was actually very close in terms of the vote. As far as I can make out, only around 90% of the votes have been counted, and the shares are as follows:

Trump 48.5%
Harris 47.4%
Others 4.0% (ie, the minor candidates we never hear about)

(And even if Kamala got all the uncounted votes, Donald already has enough electoral college electors such that Kamala can't get enough to pass him.)

But that's distorted by the way the electoral college 'electors' are selected. In fact, it's entirely possible for the successful candidate for presidency to get less national votes than the runner up :-o

It's a wee bit like Reform getting more UK votes nationally than the LibDems in the general election, but getting five MPs elected, while the LibDems got 72 MPs :-o

Yes - Hillary Clinton in 2016 - 48.2% / 46.1%, but Trump won through the electoral college.

Not that any system is perfect - the AMS system up here led to the Greens having way too much power IMO.

Someone made an interesting point on another forum I frequent.

If you stay off social media, and ignore the news channels, Trump will have no effect on you whatsoever.

Not sure about that.
I just took this off a site.

Popular vote
83.0% of expected vote

Donald Trump 72,623,882 votes 50.9%

Kamala Harris 67,927,989 votes 47.6%

Jill Stein 641,062 votes 0.5%
Others 1,516,369 votes 1.0%

Ah, yes, Grandad, I see the numbers you're taking about via a Google search:

https://www.google.com/search?client=fi ... ar+vote+us

I took my numbers from the Telegraph's site (click on the 'popular vote' button)

https://www.telegraph.co.uk/us-election ... t-results/

The Telegraph's site shows 'others' at 3.2%, which doesn't appear on the first link, and in fact it looks like your numbers include the 'others' under the Trump numbers, roughly speaking, which is clearly odd :-s

But assuming your numbers are the correct ones, they certainly show a more significant margin for Trump in terms of the popular vote - my numbers showed merely a 1% gap between Harris and Trump, while yours are more than 3%, which is presumably explained by the 'others' figure in the Telegraph's numbers.

Anyway, no point spending a huge amount of time trying to work out the nitty gritty.

And even accepting that your numbers are the correct ones, the vote is still relatively close - 51% to 48%, roughly speaking.

A quick look back at the results in modern history show Nixon, Reagan and Lyndon B Johnson up around the 60% mark.

They say that one of the first executive orders that Trump will sign will be to deport millions of immigrants from the USA.
isn't that similar to what Idi Amin did in the 70s?
