What would be the chances of Mandy passing the fit and proper test in your LA?

He would be given the red carpet treatment in Wolverhampton.

so our veritaphobic PM is now claiming that neither him or any other minister knew that Mandleson FAILED the official vetting

despite the fact that he referenced the vetting process on multiple occassions

It's time he realised the British public doesn't beieve his lies

Can't see him going before the May elections - the results of those might add to his problems anyway.

Even so, HoC on Monday and Foreign Affairs committee on Tuesday should be ... interesting.

The Rest is Politics cover why they think Starmer is finished.

Although obviously not yet.

Any PM or Chancellor who decided that one of the first things they did was to take Xmas money off OAPs, is never going to have a long political life.

I'm amazed both have lasted this long.

As for what the PM knew or didn't know about Mandy's security check, it doesn't matter to me.

Two PMs had sacked Mandy; he was known as the 'Prince of Darkness', he had links with the Kremlin and China, yet Starmer agreed that this fella should be able to read the most secrets of secrets.

After the 2024 election win it's frustrating that Labour seems so much on the back foot these days.

In footballing parlance, I'm not sure whether it's more down to the manager or the team. I suppose it's always both. Mandelson - while competent - certainly wasn't a wise choice but FCDO should have seen that and acted much earlier.

Anyway, I still don't see an obvious replacement for Starmer before May 7. Then they might have to find one. Assuming Morgan McSweeney doesn't start another fire next Tuesday.
