So Streeting now resigned to work on getting his 81 signatures and Rayner has conveniently sorted out her tax affairs without any fines or penalties allegedly

We are going to have a by election in Makerfield in which Burnham will be allowed to stand

Millibellend has also put himself in the race along with some lesser known candidates

Will Streeting get his challenge in quick enough to head the lefties off at the pass or or are we going to see the government shifting sharply to the left or will the stubborn mule spite them all and call a general election ?

I would love it to be the latter but I suspect it will be the lefties seizing control by the end of the year

"He who wields the knife never wears the crown." [Michael Heseltine]

I get the impression Streeting tried an early bluff and Starmer called it. And I'm not sure Labour should be confident about Burnham winning in Makerfield.

A GE now (before anyone has actually shown their hand) is technically possible -

High risk and showboaty - not Starmer style IMO. He's survived this far so why interrupt his enemies when they're making mistakes?

Burnham has to resign to stand as a candidate in a by election, Starmer could shaft him by timing it so the new PM is elected before the by election
