No doubt you are aware of the term "councilors know best", after all, it was the taxi trade who put those words in this Governments head.

Are you saying the taxi trade was wrong?

JD old chap, I know its getting cold and your grey matter needs regular heat, but that isnt correct.

The trade stated, Locals are best placed to decide.

By locals, do you mean the local gorra plate club?

HOW STRANGE THEN THAT JD BUBBLES NOW WORKS FOR THE SAME PH OPERATOR HE CALLS ''GREEDY ''. COULD IT BE SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE FACT HE NOW ONLY PAYS A HALF SEETLE ( £ 45 ) ? OR COULD IT BE THE FACT THAT HIS UNCLE IS THE WEEKEND OPERATOR ? OR COULD IT BE THAT HIS BROTHER IS ''OPERATIONS MANAGER'' AT THE AFOREMENTIONED PH FIRM ?
I'LL LEAVE IT UPTO YOURSELVES TO DECIDE........

Seems like someone has thrown the teddy out of the pram !!!

As you rightly point out I do still work for the same PH Operator and I do only pay half settle etc etc etc. Thats my choice and that is what I have been asking for all along the freedom to choose.

I was considering just working the ranks but as you say I have it so good I would be stupid to leave now.

As stated in previous posts on here the Chester taxi association have made it quite clear that any new plates will not be allowed to join the association, not be allowed on the radio circuit not be allowed on the local taxicall and not be allowed on the Station (mmmmm). So where does that leave us.
How long do you think it will be before the association is actually outnumbered - there is already talk of starting a separate association and a new taxicall. Maybe when they do I might join until then I will enjoy all the trappings that nepotism offer me.

Seriously though, the PH firm have extended the half settle offer to any other Hackney drivers who want to supplement their earnings in the same way as I do and they don`t have to join my family to do so either!!

As for working both as a Hackney and also for the PH firm and getting the best of both worlds, well yes, I paid £27,000 for the choice to do just that and if anyone else thinks they would like the same, tell them to put their hands in their pockets.

It would seem that you are rather familiar with the said PH firm and who works there and also the individual members of my family, you probably know me too! so don't forget to wave next time you see me driving past making money instead of whinging and playing detective.

PS if you want a set let me know (I might get commission)

Bubbles you could also get all the new-bees and take over the station by filling the rank

I can't really see Dalton-doubters point. It reads as an excuse to have a go at a certain family and thats all.
When I looked into buying my cab I based finance calculations on not paying ANY settle to anyone. When I mentioned to the same P.H company I was buying they said "half settle", ain't that the proverbial gift horse??
But to some of the "old" black cabbies it just isn't on............you can't be hackney and P.H.........a hackney's primary role is to service the ranks. DUH!!! I am a little lost here because in virtually the same breath.....there isn't enough work for more black cabs, so whats the objection to me doing P.H work which the other black cabs wouldn't be doing anyway.
"Keep your mileage as low as possible and earnings as high as possible".......but only take a punter home from the rank then come back empty........doesn't logic say......plot light on a radio circuit because there just might be a job to bring you back to the rank, does it matter whether its a black cab radio circuit (from which we are excluded), or a P.H circuit.
Thats is the crux of it really............lets blame the P.H sector for all the ills thrust on the hackneys..................cos it can't possibly be our fault for not providing the service the public want............i.e the ability to pick the phone up and call a cab............we were too busy sitting on the rank in town to bother with them so it isnt our fault that the P.H sector has "raped" the city.
OR have I misunderstood everything??
