Mick,

yes councils are best to deal with local issues, the issue you refer to is not a local issue, its competition law, and is a worldwide issue

certainly european and cannot be left to little joes in surburbia, dont think this is local its not.

I suppose they could always do what Exeter and several other councils have done and accept an offer from the local Taxi trade. Funds shouldn't really be an issue if you want to keep control of numbers because the local Taxi trade will normally stump up a few grand to keep the lid on the status quo.
