Not practical though Sussex, the DDA prohibits public services from discriminating the availability of service because of a persons disability. The blanket WAV thing would discriminate and therefore would be in contravention of the DDA.
Also what about the able bodied who DON'T want to travel in a WAV, or they not allowed the choice, are you preparing a level playing field just for yourself or for everyone else.

Well if that argument was going to stand any chance, then the DfT wouldn't have given their long list of councils recently.

As for what customers who can't get into a WAV would do, well firstly we will have to see exactly what specifications finally find their way out of the DfT, and secondly they will do what the do in London, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Manchester, Liverpool, and the hundred or so other mandatory councils.

This is why I believe that the OFT reccomendations will not see any change to the plate premium in most areas and only a decrease in the premium ammount in others.

Yes, that was another interesting issue not covered by the OFT. I think they are assuming that all taxis will have to conform to the same standards eventually, thus precluding any plate premium.

That certainly seems to be the intent of the DDA.

Whatever standard is specified there is always someone discriminated against.

I agree with mixed fleets though, which would be better than a huge PH sector for saloons, but if fleets are mixed it should not be on councils telling some what vehicle they must operate and others having a choice.

That's discrimination.

And that is why as long as there are mixed fleets the saloon plates will have a premium as its only there that a restriction can be made.

Delimit numbers like we did without imposing discriminatory age restrictions and you will see the world go up-side down and standards with it.
