Save to say that if anyone applied for just one plate, they wouldn't get it. Well one person would, but that's highly unlikely to be the one that has applied. :? See what I mean?

So your saying that every council that maintains quotas is corupt. It seems that is what your implying.

Well I'm not sure I said that, but I would love to know an honest reason for keeping quotas.

The simple fact of the matter is that you can't have what you want because you don't want to buy something off someone who more than likely had to pay for it themselves. Your claims that every plateholder got their plate for free is so wide of the mark its untrue.

What I want is exactly the same as what you can have, nothing more.

And as for my claim that everyone got their plate for free, wasn't one made by me, but when did the truth ever worry you.

However all plates are issued for free.

If you were to say at some point plates were issued for free I would agree, but the wording implies that all current plateholders obtained their plates for free, and we all know that isn't true.

I resent your insinuation, the reason you try to belittle me and berate my opinions and experiences is simply because my area has formed the policy you have been unable to convince your own authority to introduce, and it has been proven not to work. Consumer groups STILL complain about a lack of taxis, it seems if people have to wait more than 5 minutes then that is wholly unacceptable. It seems they will only be happy when the number of taxis match the number of potential customers, then no-one will make any money.

In any profit making business UNMET demand must be apparent, in many areas I agree plateholders take the [edited by admin], but not all. When we had only 87 plates we needed more, but by allowing an unlimited number the trade has been wrecked.

Only you could come to the conclusion that both phrases don't mean the same thing. :?

Of couse customers complain, they always have and always will.

However, in restricted areas they have cause for those complaints.

Well that's the fault of the existing owners who couldn't see further than their noses.

But they don't Sussex, when I got my first saloon plate I didn't get it for free I HAD TO PAY FOR IT, therefore it wasn't issued to me for free.

When I got my WAV plates I got them for free but so did everyone else and so they were worthless, so I got it for free but so did the next bloke who took the same licence number I had previously used, after I had handed the plate back to the council who re-issued it free of charge.

That is why both phrases don't mean the same thing Sussex. Purhaps you could explain why you believe getting something for free and having to pay for it mean the same thing.

Only LAs can issue plates.

And LAs can only charge an admin fee.

Thus effectively free.

On another thread Sussex asks you, at least once, how mauch you paid for your plate?

If you got your plate for nothing from your council, via an issue of plates, then surely that's no different than what Sussex asks should be the norm for all licensed drivers.

If you paid for your plate, then that's different. But the courts say, not me, TDO, Sussex, JD, CC, Yorkie etc, that you paid for something that is worthless.

That maybe, but you have to wonder how sane someone is, that believes that yet keeps on posting on that same site. :?

Which is why the government now want all cabs (well in at least 95% of councils) to be WAVs. Then you anomaly will be no more.

Now what a good idea, I recommend such simple down to earth common sense to every existing quota loving council. Think of the money they will save.
