As regards Sussex, I don't think I've ever met someone as enthusiastic about his long-term future in the trade (although perhaps this sadly says more about the average driver than about Sussex!), with our without a HC plate.

He'll never be a taxi driver as long as he's got a hole in his arse, whats he going to do when all these imigrants have stopped flooding into this country??? when I look at Suspects posts and the times he posts them he's never a PH driver.

right he is a solicitor

Perhaps his name is 'Alf Richardson' Nigel, I mean you should know. :-k

In other words stick to the issues Nigel, not the IDs. Only those who's views lack substance start to question IDs.

I take nothing of this site because it's hell bent on causing maximum damage to the taxi trade so please don't flatter yourself "sunshine".

If you hadn't already noticed the taxi trade only has one differential from that of the private hire trade and that is the fact that a Hackney Carriage can pick up punters off the street. You may imply that because you can pick up punters off the street that you are somewhat superior to the likes of Sussex, who can't. However, if he came to Mansfield he could have the same status as you, the only difference would be that Sussex is far more knowledgeable about the Taxi trade, than your good self.

No ones really interested in who the registrant of this site is are they? what significance does that have with regard to what's debated on here.

lol, The point I was making is that apart from any knowledge test there is no distinction between either Hackney or P/H drivers other than the fact that one set of drivers can pick up off the street. My reference to Saloon H/C vehicles was to focus that fact more precisely. I did so because there is no difference in your vehicle or any other private hire vehicle, the only distinction is that you can pick up off the street in Mansfield and I suspect, where Sussex plies his trade he cannot. That is the only distinction between you and all Private drivers.

MY reference to a real Cab was to highlight the fact you drive a Saloon vehicle and draw the comparison with private hire vehicles. I don't normally resort to using the term real Cab but in your case I thought it might concentrate your mind and make you realise that there is no difference between you, me or anyone else and a P/H driver. Excepting the fact that most might be a little more knowledgeable than you and of course Hackney drivers can pick up off the street.

Best wishes

JD

Nigel likes to think of himself as being a real Cab driver. I tried to concentrate his mind a little by referring to the fact that he drives a saloon vehicle and there is no obvious distinction between him and a P/H driver except for the fact a Hackney driver can pick up off the street. It is not a reference I normally use but in his case I thought it appropriate.

Perhaps this is a good time to debate what constitutes being a real Cab driver? Is there such a term? We know the London Drivers have often referred to the term proper cab drivers and I suspect a great deal of people may agree with them but it would certainly be interesting to see the different points of view, as to what constitutes a real cab driver.

Best wishes

JD

so you think Sussex is brighter than Nige?

Sussex moving to Mansfield to be a cab driver would proove you wrong!

Lets get involved again it what is a real taxi driver and what isn't, the fact is we ALL drive for HIRE AND REWARD and in my view anyone who does so professionally is a proper taxidriver.

With regard one code being better than the other, well this always comes from the PH driver and is leveled at the HC driver, rarely have I seen evidence that a HC driver believes himself to be better.

We offer different services, both I believe are essencial and neither is better than the other, if anything I would say that the services provided by the PH sector are of greater benefit to the public than those provided by the HC sector.

With regard the ownership of the site, the only reason I would want to know the real names of whoever is involved is if the site published articles under the site name on behalf of the membership, I'd just like to know who's agenda I was supposidly backing.

Finally I'm sick of all this equality for drivers [edited by admin], we are in a service industry and should concentrate on what is fair and best for the consumer, if we don't like the T&C of licenses we should get out of the trade, after all thats the advice given to those involved who claim they are struggling financially so why not give the same advice to everyone not happy, surely that would be fair.
