Quite Jimbo, if the existing trade are telling the truth, then WTF have they got to worry about, even if the council issue 1000 plates? [-(

But then maybe they weren't telling the truth.

Hope there wasn't any multiple form filling, but with the low turn out, I doubt it.

Do you know what? That just ain't going to happen all the time I have a hole in my a***. [-X

It's going to take the gov 15/25 years to sort your lot out. The chances of mandatory PH WAVs will take then 100s.

I'm reliably informed that Trafford have decided to issue 33 new taxi plates now and 10 more each October until there's no more applications. Could anyone up there please confirm this?

But if this is the case, then I wonder how many of those new plate-holders will be sending a case of booze to the chap who has done all the work locally to make sure they got their plates?

Methinks f*** all is the answer. [-(

According to Trafford up to and including April 18th there was a waiting list of 60 applicants. They intend to issue 30 plates immediately a further 5 in October and between 5 - 10 each year until the waiting list is exhausted.

The criteria for issuing plates will work on a points system. They don't intend to survey for another three years and even then that is only an option. To me this new policy looks suspiciously like gradual deregulation of numbers.

Traffords April agenda and reports outlining the options for increasing plates and those applicants who applied for licenses.

Here are some of the applicants who had the forsight to apply for a license before the cut off date in April, for the first issue of 30 licenses. These aplicants have Mr Guy Morgan to thank for their good fortune because without him it is most likely that Trafford would not have issued any licenses or if they did it may not have been on the scale it is now?

Hmmmm..... (as some would say) It looks as if the new licenses will not be granted until a vehicle is tested and passed. Wonder how many were hoping to sell on without a vehicle. Wonder how many will be plying for hire in ninety days time... Waiting lists, as we all know, (or registers of interests, ) are full of people hoping to turn a quick profit, with no intention of ever operating a taxi. (Sorry, TAXI) I would not be suprised to see (new) plates going begging in Trafford.

What's the vehicle requirement there? Is it New WAV? Or even the blessed or curs'ed 25ft turning circle.

It is my opinion, to which I am surely entitled, is that waiting lists are stuffed full of carpetbaggers. It would appear that Trafford Council wish to see new, free, plates are only handed out to genuine wannabee Taxi drivers, something which should surely be applauded.

I've yet to see a plate sold without a vehicle, so I can't see your surprise at the council not issuing the plate without a proper vehicle.

Do they issue licenses in your manor without checking the vehicle first? :?

If it's a carpetbagger that gets your goat, then why not join with me in persuing a policy of no limits, thus no carpet wot-nots.

The requirement is basicaly the same as that practised in Lincoln and many other restricted authorities, they will plate almost anything as long is it passes the test?

In respect of the waiting list, the majority on that list are all Trafford Hackney carriage Drivers. Dont ask me the current plate value because at this moment in time I do not know but perhaps not for long?
