Thank you Sussex. I'm pleased you sorted Hastings out for me. There must have been a reason why I left it off but I can't think why at this moment in time.

Anyway, heres the latest and most comprehensive list. Hastings makes it 125 Authorities that restrict by number. Percentage is 31%. I have sent a copy to Rupert Cope who is away until Early December, hopefully he will make it available to every council on the list as I have done. Don't be surprised if you start seeing Council reports with this data highlighted.

I think the first person who should get a copy of this updated list is Mr David Millward the Editor of Taxi Talk magazine. Mr Millward Thinks 50% of the Taxi trade is still restricted by numbers, he displayed his ignorance of the current situation in an article titled "From the Editors Desk" which appeared in the October issue of Taxi Talk. We all know on here that the correct figure of restricted Authorities is 31% and declining. Perhaps MR Millward should get out from behind his desk a little more and update his brain as to what is happening in the real world.

It is not very difficult to sit behind a word processor and spout false statistics to anyone who will listen, it is however, infinitely more difficult to make sure that what you are actually putting into type, is accurate. Thank god, I prefer the latter.

I think I'll open a book on the last council standing. There are about ten joint favs with Manchester, Liverpool, Blackpool, Brighton, and that little place who think they don't need to survey to withold a court challenge lol

I think it would be an idea if you could roughly find out in terms of numbers the population under councils that do restrict outside of London.
It will give a better idea of the situation.
If the councils that dont restrict are small ones with small populations it will give a better picture rather than numbers.

I don't think there is a set criteria.

For every London you have a Babergh, and for every Birmingham you have a West Yokel Council.

For every Liverpool you have several East Yokel Councils, and for every Manchester you have several North Yokel Councils.

But let's all hope not for much longer. :wink:
