Yep, time for a change of direction, as we are now living in the world of free opportunity where even King Tukkamandoowee of the cannibal islands of Munchinonu has been granted a taxi licence in the UK I see no reason why I can't go split atoms and play Uraniumball for a living, ok I might not know a lot about it but who cares as long as my human rights to equal opportunity is satisfied.

Now for the serious bit, over the last 6 months there are more and more area's that are unrestricted going on strike or pleading for a limit again, now I wonder why that might be, was anyone who knew the slightest bit about the trade consulted on what effect this would have? me personally although I don't want to lose out on my investment have had a positive return on it over the 12 years I've held it.

So what next? well as I'm stooopid and I know nothing I'm going to tell you so I can link this thread up in 3 years time and say I told you so, what is going to happen is eventually there really won't be enough cabs, ppl will be chucking it in wholesale and those that replace the seasoned guy will stand about a month of Joe Public and the contents of his stomach etc at 1am daily, so there you have it, a trade that ran fine for many years decimated in the space of 5 years, enjoy it, you've earned it.

Too right, I detest being back, it's almost like here used to be 20 years ago, a lot slower and a lot nicer.

Kind of like where I moved to to live. I'd be chilled to the core if I stayed here all day every day :D

The other Mans grass is always greener...dig further down though and you'll find the roots all look the same. Still, a new lawn would be nice.

A bit longer than that Mark, try 5 hours, but it was worth it, I love Devon and Cornwall, everything is a bit slower and a bit nicer.

Well said, it looks nice on the sea front but go into the town centre and all is the same.

So true Nigel, but it's the ppl more than the place, there was an absence of 19 yr olds hanging about with chicken beak caps on and space to breath.

I currently travel 55 miles from where I work to where I live and it's worth every mile just to get away from where I work. I live within woods and ponds and a handful of neighbours and it's so so peaceful. I don't think I'll ever go back to town living

You'll have to if the new working hours rules come in & your travel time to work & back home eats into your daily hours allocation.

It won't be worth going to work if you continue living in the sticks.

I only work Friday and Saturday I don't think it's going to matter do you  Apart from that I could always apply for my badge here and work here which is always an option
