I think it will help demand be met, but drivers will have to work longer for that demand to be met. I'm not sure how many drivers will want to work the extra hours, and I know that the early morning cars wont cope with both the increase in trade, and the type of customer. They are quite happy to potter about taking people to the station or work, the last thing they will want is an endless supply of [edited by admin].

Lucky Didn't the Government say a few years ago when it allowed pubs to open 12 hours "it will be the end of trouble at throwing out time" we now have more trouble than before, roll on the 24 hour opening when the local Councils will say people will get home quicker best F***ING laugh all year.

I think you are missing the big points. The demographic time bomb has well and truly gone off, the town centre numbers are reducing by the week, thats why clubs flog cheep drink, if they did not they would be empty. the numbers of young reaching 18 is dwarfed by the numbers reaching 50 as such the time has come for a full review cos you lot are chasing a market that does not exist. make no wonder your takings are falling. |

That could be true Yorkie, but I think that "party"cities have a slightly different future. Newcastle, for example, is busy most weekends. When I say busy I mean people queue to get into pubs as well as clubs. B. Lucky |

Does this mean they will De-regulate the nightclub industry due to unmet demand?? I doubt it somehow. A few months ago a guy wanted to open a lap dancing club in Mansfield, it was going to be run legit, he got turned down, the head of licensing said we are looking at closing pubs and clubs not opening them. A few months later a nightclub owner was given permission to add another floor on top of what he's already got adding another 800 people to the already packed streets of Mansfield., what happend to the we are looking at closing pubs and clubs not opening them??? Brown packages spring to mind again. |

Who knows where 24 hr pubs will leave the trade.
From my own experience here in the Capital, I get less problems from those i pick up from clubs at 7am, than those from around Mid-night - 3am, I believe that the people who attend our (already) all night venues tend to go there for the music, dancing etc (!) and not to get blind drunk and violent. Regards , GBC |

Nigel I know you will never understand this but there is a difference between a new club and expansion of one. your councils only recourse is in planning terms, and fire authority, not licensing they have little or no say. brown enverlopes? only those containing plans to the planning department, no evidence of unfair play here at all. |

Cannot see the logic in the 24 hour opening, especially in Scotch Land. Here in the North East, you can drink from 11am till 4am,still get the pis- heads. But you find that the City is deserted during the weekend, only so much money is avaliable to spend and up here, they are weekend millionaires. |

We dont have to see the logic, but it can be used as an argument either way, are we in such a society where we need the government to tell us when and when not we can have a drink? The job of the police is to uphold the law, the day they start to move away from this, will be the day we live in a police state. Captain cab |

The job of the police is to uphold the law, the day they start to move away from this, will be the day we live in a police state. Captain cab the second paragraph is far from true, in fact its contradictory, I made a report to the police a while ago and asked why no action was taken, the answer was; "that it was not a cost effective investigation" in other words, the burgalar that turned you over last night will only be picked up if they can afford the fuel for the police cars. computers have a lot to answer for they make so many decisions about us, in the health service, you live or die as to whether your quality of life justifies the cash it would take to make you better, taaxidrivers. dont boast in hospital corridors that you do 100 hours a week. they may decide your life aint worth living. |
