Very interesting discussion. A lot of knowledge on this site. Shouldn't there be a distinction between which councils have some sort of WAV policy, and those that don't, because if a council doesn't have a wheelchair policy, and the vehicle is provided out of the goodness of the owners heart, then the owner cannot be made to take wheelchair passengers, therefore cannot be included on any list of WAV vehicles. It would be unfair to shift responsibility of WAV provision off of the council and onto the poor owner who just happens to have a potentially usable WAV. I think most of those councils who responded would immediately drop to 0%. If councils want to include WAV's in their list, so they can continue to restrict, they should make some financial assistance available to the WAV owners, they could then insist they are available for WAV provision. Just a thought . |

Whoever has responsibility is sort of irrelevant, cos it will be the owner who pays in the end. The question that those in red need to ask themselves is do they want 100s of plates issued in their area, or do they want to go 100% WAV. The choice really is theirs. |

This has been hanging over the trade now dor many years is it really an issue as the expense of putting one on the road is surely pushing most drivers towards unrestricted councils |

I think restrictions will go, and then that section wont apply. And in any new act I think it will be 100% WAV, or no % of WAV i.e. drivers choice. |

How many drivers would choose a wav if they didn't have to !!! |
