Further discussion expected on taxi issue

The Isle of Man's new director of highways expects the possible deregulation of the local taxi trade to be debated again in the coming months.

The subject has been a contentious one in recent years, with opinion divided on whether the number of taxis should be delimited, allowing them to operate Island-wide.

Such a move would let new operators into what has traditionally been a tightly regulated industry.

Richard Pearson says deregulation would generally be well received within the trade:
