I can't access this site (hmmmmmm). Maybe someone could outline the terms of their derestrive policy. Is it all WAVs? Is it new WAVs? Obviously no survey and therefore obviously unfair and wrong. B. Lucky |

Its obvious that they didn't survey if it only took them 8 minutes to decide Captain. To applaud a councils lack of consideration of relevant issues when forming policy, is a disgrace in my mind, especially when it is applauded by people who apparently demand fairness. Bollox, what they want is fair, but what is right is not ?? B. Lucky |

Captain cab I think you've had a small glass of Newky Smith, Cap. Still the above quote did make me chuckle. B. Lucky |

GA, I watched the clip and it would seem that the trade realised the council was going to delimit and ensured that existing hacks could continue to be saloons and newly licenced ones would be WAV. The trade got their wishes granted. Regards Captain cab |

You see Cap this is what I don't understand mate. Derestriction without survey, consultation and proper thought is WRONG. Derestriction is ONLY right when the council survey demand consult with ALL interested parties and an undefined or large number of extra taxis are required to meet the demands of the consumer. It has no bearing whether it gives plates to those who want them or protects those currently holding plates, if its not done properly then its WRONG. One cannot have one's cake and eat it. B. Lucky |

I'm not disagreeing. I just stated that it seems that the trade in Mole Valley (yes I had to check on a map) got the best out of a bad job, they cut a deal so to speak. They did state that most of their trade was private hires and it would only effect them at the rail stations in leatherhead and Dorking. This obviously led to the trade saying they'd have to work longer hours, to which their own consultative group responded the government should introduce driver hours! hehe Captain cab |

My point is though that "cutting deals" is not good enough. If the area needs more taxis then work out how many and get them on quick sharp, but do it properly and make every effort to attempt to get the numbers right. If they don't and their is still a shortfall then do it again. Its the ONLY FAIR WAY. B. Lucky |

By all accounts a very fine report was compiled by the LO. In it was chapter and verse of many consultations with the trade, and constomers. I believe they even had a poll on their website. But don't tell Yorkie.
Thus the committee meeting just rubber stamped the report, and a good rubber stamp it was, in my honest opinion.
