Are you allowed to sell council property? The plate belongs to them doesen't it?

Would it not be better to try and sell to an existing driver?

That said I would advise folks not to buy plates until the full ramifications of the 2010 Equality Act are known, and especially never to buy a plate in an area you don't work.

A plate is only worth what folks are prepared to pay.

If you have had no serious offers, then you are simply doomed.

£80k ????

If your licensing officer is reading this he must be thinking if people are desperate to pay £80k for a council license, that was issued free - and is definitely NOT your property...

There must be an unmet demand.

What's the most expensive plate this year?? Is anyone anywhere expecting £80k for a plate??

Where is this Aylesbury Vale place? I feel a challenge coming on.

yh but the plates were issued out about 60years ago an since then they have been restricted at 50 so the council do not issue out more so thats why you can buy of an existing buyer its not a private hire plate its a hackney and aylesbury is in buckinghamshire.

When was the last SUD done? As far as I can tell (quickly) it was 2006.. If so the plate is worth nothing - the survey will have expired and I can have a plate tomorrow.

If the guys are earning so much in this place.. They are not spending it on maintainence:

Date Published: 11/09/09

Aylesbury taxi drivers are being urged to raise their standards following a series of spot checks recently.

Officers from Aylesbury Vale District Council, Thames Valley Police and the Vehicle and Operator Services Agency (VOSA) joined forces in a bid to hunt out unsafe licensed vehicles and drivers in the town.

Checks were made to ensure that vehicles were roadworthy and properly badged, and that the drivers were complying with the terms of their licence.

Out of 11 private hire and hackney carriage vehicles that were checked, ten had their license plates removed and were temporarily prohibited from being used as taxis due to mechanical defects. The majority of the vehicles inspected were taken off the road immediately due to the seriousness of the defects found.

how can u apply for a white hackney plate if they are restricted, you can apply for a red hackney plate whick can only ply for hire as a hackney in rural areas in aylesbury they have to ply as private hire an you can check on the survey it will show you aylesbury plates value is 80k

I think you should research unmet demand surveys and their shelf life. If yours is over 3 years old

SELL!!! SELL!! Take a fiver for it.

Good luck and good night
