I used to see it a lot in oldham the guy who owns a hackney has more respect than the guy driving as driver or private hires
few friends of mine who are asian when we was on rank people used to come see them and offer them a drink or fag or something I also once saw a private hire driver who just came to the rank put a cigar in the hackney owners mouth and light it
I asked why he did that and he said his a rich man and im below him so have to show respect.

I usually find that happen here , i cant even remember the amount of times ive been stood outside my cab when someone tries to put a cigar in my mouth or money in my hand . Even punters sometimes say they love being in a cab with a owner and tip generously ! FFS

Makes a change from seagulling then

So I suppose the size of the cigar will depend on the plate value? :D

I suspect one day someone will present me with a fag-end out of a nearby ashtray.

By the way, I hope the owner is out of the cab at the time of this presentation, wouldn't want to be breaching the smoking ban, would we [-X

Would there be any capital gains tax to pay by the fella with the money problems who sold his business for £70000.00. Going by what you and your driver are taking I suppose the VAT man will be wanting his share as well.

70k is a lot of money for a plate but its money well spent if the punters are there. We have been talking about deregulation in Maidstone for years but its never happened so our plates continue to change hands for reasonable money.

Being regulated here means we can all earn a good living either as an owner driver or operator

You should have waited on the final outcome of the equality bill, they allegedly might tell councils to de-restrict and allegedly allow saloons to be licenced as hacks in all wav areas, and if they do you have just waisted 70K

You should have perused a spell/grammer checker while you had bog all else to do

Can't see anything wrong with the grammar, Toots, but not so sure about the logic.

By the way, since you're criticising Skippy's spelling there's actually no 'e' in grammar

Isn't grammer the urban slang for sufferers of bulimia nervosa and anorexia nervosa?

Because the afflicted only weigh grams.

OK, so we've established that neither Toots nor Skippy can spell, but where's Skippy's grammatical deficiencies?

He missed the full stop at the end of the sentance.

Mr Grandad, you're extracting the urine.

It's comforting to know that your sense of humour hasn't changed and as I said you missed the point entirely  I see Grandad got the drift tho :D

Eh, you mean everytime someone misses out a full stop we have to point it out? Some people don't even bother with them, full stop. (See what I did there? :D )

Or when grandad misspells 'sentance' or I misspell 'deficiencies'?

Actually, I don't think I misspelt deficiencies at all, but is it really worth looking up, or indeed - to come back to the issue in hand - pointing out? [-(

I believe that misspells should be mis-spells!

So there!

Hyphens Я Us OK!!

5 bicester fares

thats about 150 miles for £150 quid

you'd been better of working the city and made that with half the mileage, perhaps more even.....

also you reckon you paid £70k for a licence, you sure you aint got a half share??

I prefer long runs
I did nearly £200 on saturday only worked about 8 hours
Yh 70k for full its all on my name now
I heard I can make 500-600 monday to thursday and 500-600 friday saturday so its good.

At that rate you'll have paid for the plate in 63.636 weeks; just in time before the new Cab Act comes into force when it might be worth fukc all!!
