Looks like a promising skippy student all them jobs in one night

When you say MAKE, you you mean MAKE or TAKE. There is an auful lot of difference. I have a mate who takes over a grand a week but he makes only about £250 a week after paying all his costs.

Doesn't really sound that much assuming it's the best eight hours on the Saturday though.

I mean if plates are worth £100k then presumably they're going to be a bit busier than most of us. :sad:

So basically his plate will be worth £70,000 on a £70,000 vehicle.

Bargain.

At some time that vehicle will have to be replaced.

If I’m correct in Oxford it must be a LEVC, which are costing £70,000 -£90,000.

If the fella had made good money over the last 10 or so years then good luck to him.

But going forward I’m not sure it’s going to be as good.

13 Years on & I can confirm Oxford is still Restricted 107 Hackneys last HC107 issued in 2007 My good friend has been a owner / driver in Oxford since early 90s I think he bought his for around 20k then, Today 2025 an Oxford Plate with an Expiring diesel cab which has to be replaced with an electric TXE is still worth £70k all day long so imo was a good investment. Good on you Jack

I can’t comment on 70k Vehicle but I know diesel TX1-2-4s are selling around £70k inc Plate But you have to look at this person Purchased 13 Years ago and judging by all comments saying would be worthless etc But it’s not so IMO good investment

Yes but majority are still diesel & The 70k is the plate with a Diesel cab I’m sure if it’s Levc then the price will be more. But what I’m trying to say when this person 13 years ago discussed he purchased a plate Everyone seemed to think it will be worthless in a few months but it’s been 13 years 13 years to recoup but still has the same value is a good investment to me.

Plates in Liverpool were around £50,000 10-15 years ago, now under £10,000. WAV plates in Brighton and Hove were around £55,000 10-15 years ago now you can get as many as you want for under £5,000. Oxford drivers are lucky they haven't been affected as much by the likes of Uber than many other areas. As I said good luck to them, but those new vehicles aren't cheap.

Aylsbury just down the road from us I remember drivers saying £70k for a plate not that long ago but now you can purchase any WAV no age limit & get yourself a Plate!!

For the uniformed - uber does have a license in Oxford though they can’t get the drivers yet. Also theirs a meeting ina few weeks time to review the restricted numbers, may go either way. As for late prices - nothing like it used to be
