The figures Carrick won't publish. Carrick who are on a hiding to nothing if legally challenged sent out a Questionnaire to the three sample bodies I've categorised below. What Anne Carveth the Carrick LO the compiler of the report has done, is group all three sample units together in order to create the impression that the percentages are a true reflection of the public sample. When you take away the built in 32.9% vested interest of the Taxi Trade it paints a very different picture. http://committee.carrick.gov.uk/mgConve ... =5370&T=10 Taxi Trade Sample: 275 Returns 96 = 34.9% Resident's Sample: 1080 Returns 186 = 17.2% Transport & Disabled Sample: 90 Returns 10 = 11.1% Total Sample: 1445 Total Returns: 292 = 20.2% Taxi Trade overall percentage 96 = 6.6% rounded down. Resident overall Percentage 186 = 12.8% rounded down. Transport & Disabled Percentage: 10 = 0.6% rounded down. Percentage of Taxi trade responses out of total returns = 32.9% Percentage of Resident responses out of total returns = 63.7% Transport & Disabled responses out of total returns = 3.4% Regards JD |

Is this the same Carrick Council where a judge was scathing in his criticism last July in Truro Crown Court, when he granted a lad a plate following an appeal?
I wonder how much that cost the council, £5/6/7,000, and for what?

Well they had best determine them.
If they have up to date evidence from a taxi survey, then they shouldn't have a problem refusing those applications. If however they haven't, then they should grant them. I think it's called the law of the land. Last time I looked that even applied to Carrick Council.

A council questionairre is so open to abuse that I'm really surprised any council considers it as independant and accurate. Let alone one that lost an appeal less than a year ago. For goodness sake don't they know or have learnt anything?
A court will only accept a proper independant survey which follows the recent government guidance. So please Carrick follow the law, in the same way as you expect your license holders to do.

There is no telling how many members of the cab trade were in the 186 public replies? Regards JD |
