5 years ago when entered the trade cabs exchanging hands for around 60-70k then a muppet went and sold his for a Low 35k now as PH prices have gone up from £3 anywhere in town to min £3.50-4.50 depending on where you go work has picked up a little in the hack world, not booming id say but still better than before.
Last year we had our survey done and when the results where published a few cabs sold for around 30-35k.
How is work like elsewhere?
And what's peoples opinion on the future of the cab trade?
You think I should just grab that 30-35k and run or stay and hope for better days ?

I suspect in many area the price is much the same, but I'm told that plates prices in Liverpool have dropped significantly.

I would imagine if a restricted area is mobbed out with the likes of Uber then plates prices will drop.

But let's face it plate prices are all in the mind anyway.

I think a few people might be able to show you a bank balance that says otherwise But I'm surprised they have held up anywhere because as a rule taxi and PH numbers are on the rise and trade is slowly going down with cheaper and cheaper prices in many areas depressing earnings

You don't sell the plate.

For sale, 10 year old mondeo. £35k includes 'free' hackney plate.

precisely you sell your business including the goodwill that comes with the plate

One thing though many councils now ours included don't allow you to keep your plate number if you replace your vehicle you get the next in the series they are currently in the 800's (only 350 licensed vehicles) so that ensures there is no value attached. aLL IT WOULD TAKE WOULD BE FOR COUNCILS WHERE PLATES HAVE A VALUE TO ADOPT THIS SYSTEM AND 30k to ZERO overnight

Just because you are issued a different license number does not mean there is not a value attached to that license when transferring to another proprietor.

you can't transfer it you have to hand it in to the council and they have to apply to the council for another plate
