Warrington LO are holding the "Lottery" tomorrow for 17 new WAV Hac plates, 23 have applied for the 17 new plates.

But it does beg the question as to why Warrington bother to keep quotas. :-k

If only 23 people are interested in becoming taxi plate-holders then what's the point of restricting numbers? :roll:

Presumably the reason that there's so few applicants is because the existing taxis are saloons? :?

I suppose it's a bit fairer than just having a waiting list which people may well join for speculative reasons.

Or, for example, the kind of situation that Mr Cummings in Cardiff tried to exploit - ie he had dozens of plates but tried to utilise his position on the waiting list to obtain more, and didn't like the idea of a lottery.

But it's still a pathetic way to decide how drivers earn their living.

i got my plate free via a sound waiting list.
even if i did have to wait loads of years. :sad:
