I have put the whole select committee report into MP3 format. I will send a copy by post to anyone who is prepared to host it on the net, or is willing to make it available to anyone who wants to download it peer to peer. There is 137 mb in total.

It may come in handy for future reference especially if the actual minutes are flawed. If anyone wants to have the files transfered electronically I'll only do this through ICQ and if you have broadband, you must also agree to let others have it. One advantage of having this archive is that you can transfer it to tape and let your colleagues listen to it either at work or perhaps in the car, if you so wish. The archive wont last for ever on the Parliament TV website so if you really do want it, I'm making it available.

4 files in total on CD.

File 1 Trade Response. 34.5 mb
File 2 Licensing officers Response. 35.7 mb
File 3 Peter Perkins resposnse. 14.2 mb
File 4 OFT Response. 52.5 mb

Best wishes.

John Davies.
Manchester.

Thats great I'm glad you posted that link. People could have also got it from the parliament website which I posted, but some people may not have the facilities to turn a 1 gig wav file into MP3 and then put it on cd. It's for those people that I took the time and effort for.

But thank you for posting the link.

Best wishes

We'd love to have it on here John, but the files are just too big.

There's plenty of space available, but the problem is the bandwidth.

To give you an idea, we're currently using less than 1,000 mb a month out of an allowance of 4,000 mb. So we've got plenty to spare, but since your files come to 137 mb we'd only be able to accomodate around 20 downloads and that would use up our allowance, and we're not really too keen to fork our for more bandwidth. Of course, few people might want to download it, so to that extent it would be OK, but I suspect it would be more than 20.

Is that a direct link to the Parliament live archive Mr Discombobulated?

I tried it and it certainly started in a different format from that going via the archive, but it soon went doolally - I just can't get it to run seamlessly with my dial-up connection.

I fully understand your predicament Dusty. I was just trying to give everyone who hasn't seen or heard the select committee hearing, the opportunity to listen to something that concerns them. I believe in keeping the trade informed, whereas the exact opposite is the case in some quarters.

Best wishes

I dont know dusty, I had some problems as well but it certainly plays alright with me although I have broadband,I dont think that is the parliament live site though!
Maybe John has the best idea though, maybe he could sell the discs as a boxed set   they could be called the beginning of the end or the end of the beginning depending on your point of view.

The dns 213.200.77.220 is run on tiscali servers but thats about as much info as I can get. Even if you break the url down it gives you nothing. There is no registrant contact information available for that DNS except the usual contacts for tiscali, maybe I'll email this guy sven@tiscali.net to find out more info. It started and stopped for me last night but today it seemed ok. The clarity seemed better than the Parlaiment TV website.

Best wishes

Hello John.

I have just set up an ICQ number, and if you wish to send me the data, I'm more than happy to put it on disc, burn a few copies, and post it to anyone that sends me their details. Either via an e-mail or a PM message.

I'm not that ofay with ICQs, so if we do it that way, you best talk me through it.

Alex
