Court nine Edinburgh Sheriff court, takes centre stage this morning. For over 12 months Edinburgh City council has tried to deny Taxi license applicants their right to have their applications determined in accordance with the law. Well today I fully expect them to meet their own Waterloo and with it a lesson in law. Losing this appeal won't stop Edinburgh City council from applying for judicial review in order to gain more time but that may not be a bad thing. Edinburgh City council won't lie down until they have had the law spelt out to them from the most elevated body in the land. It then remains to be seen what unpredictable action councillors will take in the light of these reversals? Will Edinburgh do a Dundee and Aberdeen? There is every possibility that may happen, in fact it is not a possibility it is more a probability. When a council finds its hands tied by the law there is only ever one outcome, that is to comply with the law. Regards JD |

![]() Does that mean we all don’t have access to equal legal representation? And here’s me thinking we live in a “Democracy”. I mean all animals would be equal if this was in fact the case. Strange how Orwell had it right. The Bas***** use the public purse to beat the public they claim to represent.
An interesting concept in a modern day democracy don’t you think? No law, no justice but only for the few who “are more equal than others”.
Animal Farm perhaps? And guess who's less equal?

Absolutely - that some are more equal than others couldn't be more apposite than in relation to restricted numbers. |

I think they'd ask him as an outsider what his opinion of the human race actually is (the old ones are usually the best)
He'd then go on about the inequality and lack of justice. They'd then not bother invading, because they'd realise we were suffering enough
