I've heard all about incorporation/parnerships so that plates can be sold, but why bother?

Here in East Fife it seems that to sell a plate the council just takes in the old one and hands out a new one. I don't think the plates are worth much, so it's difficult to work out the money paid for the plate as opposed to the car (a few hundred quid?), but I'm not really sure that that matters - why bother incorporating when a new plate can simply be issued to the buyer?

As a person who has never bought or sold a plate I gave my own opinion that people spending that kind of money were exactly that.

You would be better aiming the question at skull, he sold one for £28,000 to someone, now he wants them all issued for free.

I'm trying to work out the compatibility between your stance of fervently supporting restriction in Edinburgh and every other restricted licensing authority in the UK, with your statement that implies people are "mugs" to buy a plate? Are we to believe the Edinburgh cab trade is full of mugs? If so what alternative cure do you prescribe for entry into the Edinburgh trade and the taxi trade in those 28% of restricted authorities in England and Wales?

Who says I am fevently supporting restriction?

Undersupply is as bad as oversupply, and I still think anyone purchasing a 'plate' are ill advised.
