Explain, to the absolute novice, please what oft is worried about?

What is delimitation? I'm presuming its the abolition of PH restrictions - however I may be wrong.

In short, a minority of council restrict the maximum number of HCs(taxis), that they will license.

When a council lift that restriction, thus allowing an open market, that is commonly called de-limitation. Although the scare-mongers often call it deregulation, which it isn't.

The PH trade has never had any restrictions on numbers, the laws don't allow for it.

So the question I would ask if I was a novice member of the public, is if the PH trade can cope and flourish without numbers protection, why can't the HC(taxi) trade?

So delimitation, the oft report and all the like - are actually making (to steal my grandma's phrase) a mountain out of a mole hill.
Most councils don't limit HC numbers in such a way, and even if they do - businesses can still just go into PH...

It seems, and I repeat I am a novice, that the PH drivers don't seem to get a bad deal. There are presumably extra costs surrounding the running of a HC. The only real difference that I can see (and I will accept correction) is that PH vehicles don't (and this will make you laugh) pick people up off the street - like HC are allowed to do...

I do not hope to further PH/HC "bitch fighting(!)" just what to be more informed...

Ok ok! So i know a little bit about all of this stuff. But not very much - I like to consider myself a young impressionable, enthusiastic taxi (PH) driver!

Trying to decide which way to go; PH or HC. Like the idea of being in the business - meet different people, get to drive a lot etc.

I dont know why you just cannot read the threads boyo.
