Lothian Buses, overwhelmingly owned by City of Edinburgh Council, has just been voted Best Bus Operator - 2007. It was praised for growning bus passengers by 32% since 1998. In that time taxi licence numbers have increased by only 18%. It is interesting to note the restriction policies of substantial parts of the areas covered by the other finalists. Transdev London - Operates in the south west of the area and operates under contract to tfl. I assume that this area is also de-restricted. Please confirm. However the others are substantially restricted. Stagecoach Merseyside - Liverpool is restricted. Brighton & Hove Buses - B&H is restricted. Keighley and District - Operates through principal towns like Leeds and Bradford, both of which restrict taxis. |

Bus growth in the capital has almost doubled since Livingston put another few thousand on the road. I'm no less busier now than I was before. The roads are more congested, mainly because of the clowns they drag off the street to drive them keep crashing them. I've lost track of how many fatal accidents they've been involved in. |

I've lost track of how many fatal accidents they've been involved in. The point I would make GBC is that the council is telling us there is no demand for taxi servoces in the are, yet all other transport sectors are expanding. And most of these sectors are owned by the counciul's bus company. Surely this can't be fair and right? |

I'm pretty sure a few of the lads on here don't.
